Need motivation....

If your day is filled with an incredible amount of multi-tasking including eating your lunch in the car, while driving with your knees and simultaneously texting an email and being on a conference call -- then fitting in longer runs or workouts can still seem a little out-of-reach, even with the longer sunlight hours. Let alone putting in the appropriate amount of training time for a strong 5K/10K performance - or even a Half Marathon, Marathon or Triathlon.

If this sounds like you --- you're not alone.

What inspiration and motivation are you tapping into to keep motivated and get out there?
Here's a few ideas and samples that you can use to bolster your training and consistency. I plan to use some of them myself!

Let me know what works for you...

READING: pick up Runners World in print/online daily to get motivated. You can even subscribe to their Daily Quote of the Day... today's quote:
"Don't be concerned with what you can't do. Work on what you can do - then count your blessings"
--Alan Robinson, 56 year-old partially paralyzed marathon runner

or pick up any number of great books on running:

PREPARATION: layout your gear for the morning run. Or pack a bag to workout during lunch, so you have everything you need ready to go for your run

VISUALIZE: put up pictures from your favorite events and best performances (on your closet door) so you're always reminded of what you're striving for

SIGN UP: Register for that 10K or Half or event you wanted to do to kick your training into gear

GET NEW GEAR: New shoes, new shorts, new something to get you back on the street or to the gym

CHANGE IT UP: Run new courses or go to a different park or venue to run

PLAYLISTS: Download new songs or swap songs with other runners to change up your playlist

REWARD YOURSELF: Set milestones for yourself (ie Get up and run 3x this week; finish two long runs in back-to-back weekends) and then splurge on a new piece of gear, new reading materials, more iTunes downloads, etc

Submit your ideas and inspiration
Stay motivated -- and keep running!
