Run In A Million Ticker

Why every season is my favorite to run!

As the weather changes and we're experiencing cooler weather, especially in the northeast, we all start to look forward to the major race events like Chicago, Marine Corp, Philadelphia and NYC Marathon, as well as the numerous half marathons, 5Ks and 10Ks throughout our neighborhoods.

So as I sat back and reflected upon the excitement and how we look forward to the fall running season, it also made me realize that we all look forward to each season -- and for different reasons.

Here's what I came up with

FALL
During the fall, we look forward to the seasonally cooler weather, which is great for the longer training runs and makes for some fantastic race views, particularly with the fall foliage changing.
Also is a great season to get excited about running a marathon or longer training runs for the first time!

WINTER
Harsh winters can often keep us indoors and as much as I dread the treadmill, as much as the next person - there really is nothing better than going for a long run on the new fallen snow. It is so quiet and pristine during that time. You really need to run without your headphones (if that's your motivation) to truly appreciate and experience the calm feeling that just takes over.

SPRING
No matter how much snowfall and freezing temps you've endured for the previous few months, Spring is always a much anticipated season. A time to renew and get back 'on track' with your weekly mileage and start to enjoy those great trails and races you've been longing for all winter long.

SUMMER
Running fast or doing long runs in the heat can be difficult and dangerous. However, I still enjoy being able to go for a run and finish on the sand, then jumping in the ocean to cool off my body from my run. No other season affords you the opportunity to do that and I have to admit, there's no better way to finish a run!

So, I've come to realize that there is no "bad" season for running.
Which is your favorite season?
